Don’t Camo Yourself

It’s a conversation starter

Don’t Camo Yourself is a mental health awareness movement that began within Round Table Southern Africa. It was created to encourage men to speak openly, support one another, and challenge the silence that too often surrounds male mental health.

The message is simple but powerful: don’t hide what you are going through.

For many men, life can come with expectations to stay strong, keep quiet, bottle things up, and carry on. Society often tells men to be resilient, unemotional, and silent about their struggles. Sadly, that silence can leave people feeling isolated, unsupported, and unable to ask for help when they need it most.

The phrase “Don’t Camo Yourself” is a reminder not to blend into the background or cover up what is really going on. Camouflage is usually used to hide, but this campaign turns that idea on its head. The bold lumo camo colours are designed to stand out, spark curiosity, and start conversations.

The movement began as a campaign by Tablers in South Africa who recognised the urgent need to talk more openly about men’s mental health. Inspired by the idea that clothing can be “a conversation starter”, the lumo camo jackets, shirts and other items became symbols of solidarity, openness and support.

What started as a small idea quickly became something much bigger. Across Round Table Southern Africa, the campaign helped men talk about issues that may otherwise have remained unspoken. The clothing became more than merchandise; it became a visible sign that the person wearing it was willing to talk, listen and stand alongside others.

The movement has already had a real impact, with conversations being started, awareness being raised, and lives being touched through the message. It has shown that vulnerability is not weakness. In fact, being honest, checking in on others, and asking for support can be some of the strongest things a man can do.

I am proud to support Don’t Camo Yourself as an ambassador, helping bring this South African Round Table movement into Round Table Great Britain & Ireland.

For me, the campaign fits perfectly with what Round Table is all about: friendship, community, support, and being there for one another. Round Table gives men a place to belong, a reason to show up, and a network of people who care. Don’t Camo Yourself helps take that one step further by reminding us that behind every laugh, every pint, every event, and every social night, there may be someone who needs a conversation.

This is not about having all the answers. It is about creating the space for people to speak. It is about making it normal to ask, “Are you really okay?” It is about encouraging men to stop hiding their struggles and reminding them they are not alone.

Every jacket, shirt, coin, event, fundraiser and conversation helps spread the message further.

Don’t hide it. Don’t bottle it up. Don’t camo yourself.
